This is a surgery indicated for a bent or deviated nasal septum. The nasal septum is the central partition that lies between both the sides of the nose. A deviated nasal septum will cause a nasal blockage more on the side of the deviation. It will also result in compensatory enlargement of structures on the opposite side of the nose, which will lead to gradually increasing blockage on that side as well. Septoplasty aims to correct the deviated part of the septum bring it in the centre of the nose. This can be combined with Turbinoplasty in which the enlarged structure on opposite side of the bent septum is trimmed to make the nasal airway roomy.
